Wings Do you need a new set of composite wings for your Sapphire, Addiction, Compulsion, Peregrine, or similar thermal duration glider? We may have what you have been looking for. At this time we have two basic versions of our wings available for your project. First is a triple-taper wing with each panel having a 60 1/2" span for a 123" total span on your fuselage. Area for this wing is 997 square inches. The second wing is a quad-taper wing with each panel having a 62" span for a 126" total span on your fuselage. Area for this wing is 986 square inches. The root chord is 9 3/4" on both versions to fit most of the fuselages in use. All of our wings are cut on a CNC hotwire foam cutter and any readily available airfoil can be incorporated. We also have the ability to cut your own custom airfoil that you create in Compufoil. We use 60 psi foam for the inner panel for strength and either 15 psi or 25 psi foam for the outer panels for lightness. All wings use a 1/2" ID carbon tube spar the entire length of the inner panel. Other size spar tubes are also available for special projects. Skin consists of one layer of 0.75 ounce fiberglass and one layer of 4.7 ounce uni-directional carbon fiber. For additional cost Kevlar can be substituted for the trailing edge to incorporate skin hinges if desired. For durability, we paint the top surface of the wing Mylar before it goes in the bag so the color is impregnated in the skin. Your wing can be painted in any standard color of Krylon at no added cost. Contrasting colored trim can be added at additional cost. The bottom surface of the wing will be in the natural carbon or carbon/Kevlar color. Basic price for a set of wings is $300. Requested options will be added to basic price.
